This verse broke my heart:

I will instruct you and show you the way to go;
with My eye on you, I will give counsel.
Do not be like a horse or mule,
without understanding,
that must be controlled with bit and bridle,
or else it will not come near you
Holman Christian standard version. (Ps 32:7-9).

Sometimes I want the will and counsel of God so bad. I try to fight harder to establish a daily bible reading, i try to fix my attitude, and pray more. This verse tells me that in order to know that mysterious will of God, I've got to come to a place where I stop fighting Him. These immature battles just need to be over, and HE and I need to get to the next level. Does anyone else see that, or am I crazy?

I've been running around in circles studying the history of Christianity and the Bible and several other things. Not really knowing what I'm looking for, I wade through mounds of information and come up with almost no real closure. Mary asked me "Have you asked Him yet" I said no...That was Friday, and I still haven't.

First, God wants you to be hungry, but for righteousness-not information. I study hard too, so let me encourage you to take a breath and look around. there a lot of roses to stop and smell in the Scriptures.

Second, The History of Christianity is a highly debated topic. Many of the sources today are biased and have been rewritten by men who have learned a lie and believe it to be truth. At this point, in no way trying to condescend, that is a topic that can take you away from Christ with minutia. It is important, but it is also consuming.

Third, I believe you are, but let me encourage you to bring your family along. I find myself, as one whose job it is to study and know, leaving my first responsibility (Jess) behind. Like I said, I'm not saying you are doing that, but with your zeal, you could easily run the risk.

Fourth, I would love to have a time to sit and discuss with you. My number is 903-649-4656 and my email is guitarstringgm7@hotmail.com. I wold love it, this is real discipleship. I am so encouraged at your desire to know the truth.

Fifth, be wary of google. My instructors explained it this way. Cows get what was once called "hardware disease". THey scoop anything in their mouths and end up with a nail in their heart. You never hear of a goat dying that way because they take small bites and chew it up real good. Have a strong filter.

Sixth, I am praying for you. I am excited to see what God has for you. I am blessed to have such a close seat as I watch your spiritual life begin and take flight.

Seventh, (I love this) beware of spiritual constipation. Remember, It is our job to "Go and make disciples of the world, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all things". Its easy to get spiritually bloated, believe me, its the number one cause of death in preachers.

Good advice for us all (good anology about the Hardware Disease - sounds familiar though) God bless, proud of you both!
